Mediterranean Sea and tooth update!

Madelyn started the trip with a wiggly tooth. She's been very worried about the Tooth Fairy finding her in Spain and really wanted to bring the tooth fairy pillow. She lost her tooth at the beach our first full day! 

Our first few days in Spain, we're staying on the Costa Daurada. The girls have loved looking for seashells and playing in the Sea. The water is very warm and pretty clear. It's pretty hot and humid here with a nice breeze. I'm hoping to finish the book I brought to read although the time change and jetlag has been a real struggle. I (Amanda) nodded off twice yesterday while reading. Hopefully it will get better soon. 

We've had plenty of Iberian ham, cava, chorizo and Maddy and I have had some fish and seafood. Savanna and Madelyn have experienced real European croissants and pastries. So far the girls have been somewhat adventurous although they're still on the lookout for chicken nuggets. 

Day 1: weather in the US and drive to El Vendrelle

Severe storms in Chicago caused delays. After a 4 hour delay, we finally boarded and took off to Barcelona. We breezed through customs, got our rental car and started to El Vendrelle. Driving on little sleep and no caffeine in a foreign country wasn't our best idea. But after navigating a few wrong turns and around a few accidents we made it out of Barcelona and into the Spanish countryside. It's gorgeous. There are tons of vineyards on hillside with mountains in the background and it reminded us of Northern California wine country. The resort we're staying at is beautiful. We're right on the Mediterranean Sea with a view from our hotel room. They upgraded our room, so we have a suite and the girls have their own room with the gorgeous view.
